SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To ensure the quality and integrity of each batch of food.  Reports directly to the Batch Room Supervisor and is responsible for completing all duties and tasks assigned to them before their normal work shift ends.  Signs off on safety commitments.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

A)    Obey GMP’s and PPE’s for production areas.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A)    Demonstrate capability to learn procedures for all products and operate equipment in all four batching areas.  Must be able to perform the primary responsibilities and general requirements of other jobs in the department.

B)     With the use of proper equipment, move objects weighing up to 2,500 pounds.  With the use of proper equipment, repetitively move and lift objects weighing from 6- 90 pounds.

C)     Work in a cool/damp area with an ambient temperature from 10º-90ºF.

D)    Effectively communicate with Assistant Cooks, other team members, and the Fill Room personnel to manage production flow.

E)     Maintain productivity rates required throughout department.

F)      Safe and efficient use of appropriate tools and safety equipment as required, including hair nets, ear plugs, smocks, gloves, and steel-toed boots.

G)    Mix the “dry” (powder) and “wet” (frozen, refrigerated and liquid) batches of food using scales with grams and pounds.

H)    Weigh the batches of food in gondolas (industrial size metal carts).

I)       Follow the instructions of the batch sheets and verify them by annotation.

J)       Open and close the valves of the kettles via a touch screen computer to adjust the volume and temperature of the water within the kettles.

K)    Check and clear the magnetic traps of foreign objects three times per shift.

L)     Check the viscosity of some batches of food before pumping the product to the Fill Room.

M)   Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED (General Education Degree)

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job assignment an individual must meet the required job specific training located in the Training Register.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend batch sheets, recipes, resource/product codes, instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic math skills.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS 

Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to lift 60-75lbs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is sometimes exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and potential exposure to sulphuric acid (electric battery), potential exposure to carbon monoxide from propane fueled forklift.
